On our way......

We left home at around 2 pm and found a cab quite quickly. The driver took us a strange way to JFK, which included a drive through Crown Heights where preparations for Sukkot were under way and many Orthodox Jews were on their way to temple carrying some sort of palm frond.

Eventually, with MAC's help, the driver managed to fins his way to JFK and we arrived around 3.15 pm. Check in was quick and easy as was the security check and we were soon at the gate awaiting the flight to Helsinki.

The flight was a few minutes delayed leaving JFK and the taxi seemed to go on forever.

The flight was smooth and comfortable in our Economy Plus seats and we were soon approaching the Nordic area.

We landed almost exactly on time and were soon through Immigration, (despite a little bit of an inquest into my travel plans) and picked up our bags.

We met Bill & Paivi and were soon in their car on the way to Helsinki. We took a slight detour to view the locality and then got settled in and had breakfast.

After a short nap we took a walk along the shore nearby to the apartment complex. On the way back we stopped at the local pub and had a glass of beer. Then it was home for dinner which comprised of a couple of very nice wok dishes. Then it was off to bed for an early night as we had to leave for the airport at 8.30 am in the morning for the flight to Ivalo in Lapland.
