Awaking in our aurora cabin we re-packed as it was time to leave the hotel and return to Helsinki.

After showering and dressing, we walked over to the main lodge for breakfast and check out. Our stay at the Muotka Hotel had been extremely enjoyable with great accommodation, great facilities and great food. I would recommend this place to anyone going up to Lapland at any time of the year. In the winter there are many activities including everything that can be done with snow!! Snowmobiles, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, etc.

The manager Nina was very hospitable and helpful.

We took off in the car to drive to Ivalo and the airport, get gas and return the car to the rental company. On the way, we took a small detour to take some photos of the large lake near Ivalo.

Then it was re-fill the car and get to the airport which we did in good time. The flight back to Helsinki stopped at Kittala on the way for a brief exchange of passengers and then was off to Vantaa airport in Helsinki.

We soon picked up our car and rove towards the city but stopped at Stockmann's extensive grocery department on the way to purchase supplies for dinner. Unfortunately, the weather had turned and the day ended with heavy rain.

At home we had dinner and then sat up and sorted out the world for a few hours prior to retiring for the night.
